ENGR 221 – Electrical Circuits I
Homework #10 – Due 10/10/2018
Problem 1:
a) Determine the contribution of the 1 A current source to the voltage Vx in the circuit above. b) Determine the contribution of the 5 V voltage source to the voltage Vx in the circuit above. c) Using the results of parts a) and b), determine the voltage Vx with both sources “ON.” d) If the voltage source were replaced with a 3 V source, positive polarity on bottom, and the
current source were replaced with a 2.5 A source, direction up, use the properties of
linearity to determine the value of Vx under those conditions.
Problem 2:
a) Determine the contribution of the 8 V voltage source to the current Ix in the circuit above. b) Determine the contribution of the 10 V voltage source to the current Ix in the circuit above. c) Using the results of parts a) and b), determine the current Ix with both sources “ON.” d) If the 8 V voltage source were replaced with a 4 V source, positive polarity on bottom, and
the 10 V voltage source was left as is, use the properties of linearity to determine the value
of Ix under those conditions.
Problem 3:
a) Determine the contribution of the 2 mA current source to the voltage Vx and current Ix in the circuit above.
b) Determine the contribution of the 12 V voltage source to the voltage Vx and current Ix in the circuit above.
c) Using the results of parts a) and b), determine the voltage Vx and current Ix with both sources “ON.”
