Interdisciplinary Plan

The healthcare industry is faced with numerous challenges and this prompts the development of effective plans to help in improving the efficacy and efficiency of healthcare organizations. The proposed plans must be elaborative such that the various stakeholders can easily understand and grasp its importance and provisions. This paper will discuss an interdisciplinary plan proposal that strives to improve the patients’ outcomes as well as the attainment of the organizational goals in dealing with the problem of hospital-acquired pressure ulcers. The proposed plan will touch on multiples strategies for the management of human and financial resources, interdisciplinary collaborations, and change management theories as well as leadership crucial in improving interdisciplinary teams to succeed in promoting organizational health. The main objective of the proposed plan is to create the most effective ways to improve care providers to promote the attainment of patients’ health outcomes and organizational goals.

Strategies for human and financial resource management

In every organization, the enhancement of both the financial and human resources management is always crucial for its success. Different strategies are used to ensure effective management of the two resources. The best strategies to use are the application of technology to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization. Technology will provide a proper guideline for the utilization of the resources to ensure there are no wastages. Collaboration between the different disciplinary teams is also another effective strategy (Van et al. 2016). This is because it ensures all the stakeholders are working together towards the achievement of the specific goals and objectives set by the organization. a successful interdisciplinary plan requires access to all the organizational resources. For effective, a coordinator, assistant general coordinator, eight coordinators as well as two supervisors are needed. A team of 25 care professionals should be incorporated as well as accommodations for nurses during training. The total budget for the financial plan should be $20,000.

Interdisciplinary collaboration

Interdisciplinary collaboration plays a key role in the achievement of patients’ outcomes and organizational set goals. Thus, ensuring effective collaboration between all the healthcare teams is crucial to the attainment of the desired system. Interdisciplinary collaboration provides healthcare organizations with a framework that allows nurses as well as other healthcare stakeholders to work together to promote patients outcomes and achieve organizational goals (Heywood, 2018). For this proposed plan, Cochrane collaboration is recommended to create a systematic review of healthcare interventions as well as improvement of the decision-making process. The Cochrane collaboration consists of different healthcare stakeholders such as researchers, patients, and physicians among other stakeholders.

Theories and leadership strategies

Interdisciplinary collaboration cannot be successful without effective change management theories as well as leadership strategies. The proposed plan will apply Roger's five-stage model which focuses on the team member’s ability to make decisions that are acceptable by the healthcare management system. This model provides the team members to make decisions that are geared towards the enhancement and development of the organization thus improving the implementation process of the proposed plan (DeLay, 2017). The leadership strategy most effective to implement the proposed plan involves aligning nurses with the implementation policies and accurately defines them to guarantee its effectiveness in the healthcare system.

In conclusion, an interdisciplinary plan is a very important tool in any healthcare organization as it helps to ensure interdisciplinary collaboration that promotes improvement in the organization. Failing to implement an interdisciplinary plan can have negative effects on the organization such as decreased patient care. Also, the organization can fail to attain its set goals and objectives and this can lead to a reduction of the quality of care.
